| Hello all, today was terrible... but it got better as I realized how many things I have to be thankful for.
Yes, that's right... it's funny how you can be so selfish to think that you've had "a bad day" and then you realize how bad other people have it. It's like I was completely oblivious to every other problem in the world and only focusing on the couple of things bringing me down at the moment. I noticed this right before I turned into the gas station to get gas. I was in a full-force cry-a-thon when I saw a lady screaming for help on the side of the road. She was African-American, barefoot, wearing what looked like an old raggity dress, and seemed completely helpless. I watched carefully as she knocked on every car door looking for someone's help. My first reaction was, of course, to lock my doors; because that's what s o c i e t y teaches us... to be careful because you never know what could happen when you're dealing with other people's thoughts. And yes, now I realize how terrible of me it was to have such a reaction... but immediatlely after locking my doors, I rolled down the window to see if I could be of any help to the lady. It was then when I realized the man in front of me in a red Ford Taurus opened his door to this poor, helpless lady. It was such a beautiful sight to see someone with such c o m p a s s i o n to help such a poor lady in an event of emergency. Not only is it wonderful to see another human being having so much love for others to want to help a complete stranger, it's incredible to see what the work of Jesus does inside of another person. And I realize we aren't all Christians here, but I still feel like, at times like these, you almost need the help of faith to get you through things. And to see such a heart-warming sight gives me the power to realize I was being so selfish to think I had it bad. So this is a thank-you to all those people that have touched my heart in one way or another. You guys are amazing... my friends, family, and peers give me the courage to go on every single day. Even if you don't know it, the smallest way of showing you care for someone can mean such a big thing...so don't hesitate. If it's one thing I've learned being on this earth for sixteen years, it's that we've got such limited time here. So do whatchu gotta do to show each and everyone you care for that you love them. You'll never regret it.</p>
With endless love and tons of respect, Heather Brooke Jones <3 | | |
